Embracing the Mercy of Christ: Join Us for the Divine Mercy Novena and Divine Mercy Sunday

As we enter the sacred days of Easter, we are invited to draw even closer to the heart of Jesus through a powerful devotion known as the Divine Mercy Novena. This nine-day prayer journey begins on Good Friday and leads us into the beautiful celebration of Divine Mercy Sunday, a feast that reveals the depth of Christ’s love and compassion for all humanity.

What Is the Divine Mercy Novena?

The Divine Mercy Novena was given to St. Faustina Kowalska, a Polish nun and visionary, through a series of revelations from Jesus in the 1930s. Jesus asked her to pray a novena of chaplets, each day bringing to Him the souls of different groups of people, immersing them in the ocean of His mercy. These include sinners, priests, children, souls in purgatory, and many more.

This novena is more than just a prayer—it’s a spiritual journey of trust, surrender, and intercession. Through it, we not only seek God’s mercy for ourselves, but we become instruments of mercy for others.

The Grace of Divine Mercy Sunday

Divine Mercy Sunday, celebrated on the Sunday after Easter (this year on April 27), is a day specially set aside by the Church to honor and receive God’s boundless mercy. Jesus promised great graces on this day for those who trust in His mercy, go to confession (within a reasonable time), receive Holy Communion, and pray for the intentions of the Holy Father.

It is a day of healing, renewal, and freedom—a day when the doors of heaven are wide open to anyone who seeks the mercy of God with a sincere heart.
