Lent Season Starts Today: A Journey of Renewal Begins on Ash Wednesday
As we enter the sacred season of Lent, the Church invites us to begin this journey with Ash Wednesday, a solemn day of reflection, repentance, and renewal. On March 5th, we will gather at St. Anne’s Parish for Mass at 9:00 AM and 7:00 PM, receiving ashes as a sign of our commitment to spiritual transformation.
The Meaning of Ash Wednesday
Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, a 40-day season of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving that prepares us for the celebration of Christ’s resurrection at Easter. The ashes placed on our foreheads symbolize both our mortality and our call to repentance. The words spoken during the imposition of ashes—"Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return" (Genesis 3:19)—remind us of our need for God’s grace and the fleeting nature of life.
A Time to Return to God
Lent is not just about giving something up—it is an opportunity to draw closer to God. It is a season of spiritual discipline, where we seek to grow in faith through:
🔹 Prayer – Deepening our relationship with God through daily conversations, Scripture readings, and quiet reflection.
🔹 Fasting – Offering small sacrifices as a way to purify our hearts and detach from worldly distractions.
🔹 Almsgiving – Sharing what we have with those in need, practicing charity and compassion.
Through these practices, we align our hearts with Christ, embracing His call to transformation and renewal.
Join Us on This Sacred Journey
As we begin Lent together, we invite you to attend Ash Wednesday Mass and receive the symbol of ashes as a sign of faith and commitment. Let us embark on this journey with hearts open to God’s mercy, ready to walk the path of repentance, renewal, and grace.
