The Significance of Ash Wednesday: A Call to Renewal
As we approach Ash Wednesday on March 5th, we are invited to enter the sacred season of Lent—a time of prayer, fasting, and reflection. This day marks the beginning of our spiritual journey toward Easter, calling us to repentance and renewal.
During the Ash Wednesday Mass at 9:00 AM and 7:00 PM at St. Anne’s Parish, we will receive ashes on our foreheads, a powerful symbol of humility and our need for God’s mercy. The words spoken as the ashes are placed—"Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return" (Genesis 3:19)—remind us of life’s fleeting nature and our dependence on God’s grace.
Lent is a time to turn our hearts back to God, embracing a spirit of sacrifice and love. Through prayer, fasting, and acts of kindness, we prepare ourselves to celebrate the victory of Christ’s resurrection at Easter.
Join us as we begin this holy season together. Let us walk this Lenten journey with faith, hope, and a renewed commitment to God.
